Dr. Parker attended undergraduate at the University of the South, Sewanee, and medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his surgery internship at Vanderbilt University of Medicine, a NIH research fellowship in surgery at the University of Florida, a gastroenterology Fellowship with the department of Medicine at Vanderbilt and completed his surgical residency at Vanderbilt where he served as both Senior Resident and Chief Resident. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Parker is a member of numerous professional societies including the Charleston
County Medical Society, South Carolina Medical Association, Medical Society of South Carolina, American Medical Association, South Carolina Surgical
Society,(past president)., H. William Scott, Jr., Society, Southern Surgeons Club and the Southern Surgical Association. He is an alumnus member of the
Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the recipient of the 1998 Community Teacher of the Year Award from the Department of Family Medicine at
MUSC. Dr. Parker has served as Chief of Staff of St. Francis Hospital and President of its Executive Committee, he has served as Chief of Surgery at both
Roper and St. Francis Hospital. He is a Charleston native and the son of Surgical Associates of Charleston’s founder, Dr. Edward F. Parker. Dr. Parker and
his wife Hopie have three married children and one grandson.

Dr. West attended undergraduate at the University of Virginia and medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his internship in surgery at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile and his residency in general surgery with the USAMC where he served as chief resident.
Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. West is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, American Society of General Surgery, South Carolina Surgical Society and the Southeastern Surgical Congress. He has held numerous leadership positions including the Director of Trauma Services and Chairman of the Department of Surgery for both BonSecours St. Francis Hospital and Roper Hospital.
Dr. West and his wife, Sarah, have three children. |

Dr. Baird graduated from Clemson University and the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his internship and residency at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta where he was among the first surgeons in the U.S. utilizing the laparoscopic, minimally invasive access to general surgery.
Prior to settling in Charleston, SC, Dr. Baird worked as an instructor in minimally invasive surgery. He traveled extensively, teaching and working with other national experts in the laparoscopic field. He also maintains a strong interest in all aspects of general, oncologic, endocrine and breast surgery.
Dr. Baird is board certified and is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons, Southeastern Surgical Congress and the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, a member of the Charleston County Medical Society and Southern Surgeons Travel Club. He is the author of multiple pieces of surgical literature.
He and his wife, Dr. Rebecca Gregorie Baird, have four children. |

Dr. Grice attended Milton Academy outside of Boston then received his undergraduate education at Carleton College in Minnesota. He attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston where he was an AOA honor graduate. He received his surgical training at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta. One year of his surgical residency focused on research, cancer, and the study of disease. He returned to Charleston 1993 to practice general surgery.
Dr. Grice is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He has completed advanced laparoscopic surgical training. His areas of interest include laparoscopic bowel and biliary surgery, hernia repairs, and breast surgery. He is certified in advanced trauma life support and is currently serving as Chief of Surgery at Roper Hospital.
Dr. Grice and his family reside in Mt Pleasant.

Dr. Blessing attended undergraduate at the University of South Carolina Honors College and medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his internship and residency at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans where he served as Chief Resident. Following the completion of his residency, Dr. Blessing completed a one year externship as a surgical registrar in Auckland, New Zealand.
Dr. Blessing has extensive experience with breast cancer surgery, and trained in a facility with a dedicated breast cancer center that diagnosed and surgically treated hundreds of new breast cancer cases a year. He has comprehensive training in advanced laparoscopic procedures and in treating esophageal and Upper GI cancers. Educated in the latest surgical technology, Dr. Blessing is certified to perform surgery using CyberKnife, a cutting edge radiosurgical cancer treatment for inoperable tumors.
His current special interest areas include advanced laparoscopic procedures, melanoma, thyroid and parathyroid, breast cancer, colon and upper GI and hernia surgeries. Dr. Blessing is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Charleston Medical Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, Medical Society of South Carolina, South Carolina Medical Association and the Southeastern Surgical Congress.
A Charleston native, Dr. Blessing and his wife, Anne, have two children. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, sailing, fishing and most outdoor activities.

Dr. Fitts attended undergraduate at Harvard University and completed medical school at Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, MS.
Actively involved in the community, Dr. Fitts is the founder and Medical Director of Tri-County Project Care. Tri-County Project Care is a 501c3 non-profit community organization with a mission to provide access to health services for employed residents of greater Charleston in need. He received the Health Care Heroes Award for Community Outreach in 2005, and was awarded an Honorary Degree in the Doctor of Medical Science from the Medical University of South Carolina in May 2005.
Dr. Fitts is board certified and is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and is a member of multiple medical groups including the Charleston County Medical Society (President-elect), South Carolina Medical Association, American Medical Association and the Medical Society of South Carolina.
Dr. Fitts and his wife, Susan, have three children. |

Dr. Lucas attended undergraduate at the University of Georgia and medical school at Mercer University School of Medicine, Macon, GA. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Lucas was the recipient of numerous honors including membership in Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Joe Sam Robinson, Sr., MD Prize in Surgery, Outstanding Achievement Award in Pathology and the Max S. Rittenberry, MD, Intern of the Year Award. His special interest areas include advanced laparoscopic surgery and gastrointestinal surgery.
Dr. Lucas is board certified and is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons, a diplomat in the American Board of Surgery, and a member of the South Carolina Medical Association, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Society of Bariatric Surgery. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Francis Hospital. He has authored multiple published works.
He and his wife, Ellen, have three children. |
